What does it mean to be a Guardian Dog Family?
We do not kennel our labradoodles and believe each puppy is entitled to be raised in a home environment as the family pet.
For that reason we place our “pick of the litter” with a “Guardian/Forever family.” This is a beneficial arrangement for the puppy, the
forever family and for us.
Although we do charge a percentage of the puppy fee for a Guardian puppy, once the Guardian dog has completed their breeding, the entire fee will be refunded to the Guardian family and ownership will be transferred to you.
There are several breeding related responsibilities a Guardian family must meet, however, any breeding related costs will be the expense of Lake Lure Labradoodles.
To be considered as a Guardian: In addition to providing formal obedience training, achieving a Canine Good Citizen certificate, families must live within 40 minutes of our home in Rutherfordton, NC, have a fenced in yard, a schedule open to caring for the dog most of the day, only leaving her home alone for a few hours. In addition, the Guardian family is expected to provide routine vet care, socialization and enrichment, feed a high quality food which is approved by us, and keep the labradoodle properly groomed in accordance with our instructions.
