It was nice to "sleep in" this AM but I did miss seeing the puppies charging down the stairs in the cool crisp morning to go potty and play outside.  Cleo seems to be missing them more than in the past and has gone out to the Doodle Studio several time to check on them. Perhaps she knows it is her final time being the Mom.  I am sure she will prefer being a grand!

Lola is thrilled to be back in the spotlight.  We had a family visit from Charleston area this morning interested in Lola's Fall litter; Lola soaked up the attention like a sponge.

We had so much fun with Wally, his Mom, brothers and grandparents over Thanksgiving weekend.  Wally was such a good sport watching Cleo demonstrate a variety of ways to snag a treat.  Auntie Lola pulled rank, being Wally's senior by 10+ months, but in the end Wally scored several yummy treats.

The "kids" ran, romped, jumped, rolled and simply had a blast!
We loved seeing everyone and anticipate a Summer, 2016 visit!

Doodle Romp Day 11/8/15

We where delighted to have 4 of our 7 families join us for our very first doodle gathering.
(The other 3 puppies live in VA, GA and MA.) Even though each puppy has their very own personality, they ALL have the wonderful labradoodle temperament and are very smart. Cleo was happy to do a mini refresher course on puppy manners with each of her pups.  For the first time ever, Auntie Lola was exhausted from the full on playtime.

Olly did so very well with a lot of change. He had to bark a bit, but that was all. Brought his blanket and his elephant and he is just fine in our hotel room You raised a very secure, adaptive little pup for us. We love you for that!!!

Olly learns to vacuum !

9/23/2015

I love receiving stories from our puppy families.  This one brought a smile and appreciation for Anne's ingenuity as she introduced her 10 week old puppy to THE VACUUM CLEANER!

"The vacuum cleaner was my project.  I waited until a day when Carlene was gone, and she knew I was waiting to intro him to vacuum when she was gone. I first gave him an irresistible puppy chew, which you saw in the pic I sent you.  I used the canister vac first, letting him play with the wand. Then I made the canister part into a treat dispenser, having treats fall off the top of the vac as I pulled it around through a few rooms. Then I waited until he was sort of sleeping in the living room to turn it on. When he came in the room where I was, he found treats falling off of it again. He thought it was just a treat dispenser again.  He followed me while I did the hardwood floors in the whole house.  He nipped at the wand a bit, but no issues with barking, etc.  Just fun. so I guess I got lucky. I still have to introduce the upright vac that we use on the rugs.  That is pretty quiet, so I'm hoping my introduction program works with that one too."

A Tale of Wally's Tail

JP sent me this update on Wally, a 10 week old labradoodle.
"Wally, has decided that he isn't such a big fan of his tail.  He chases it, bites it, sometimes growls at it.  It is hysterical!  He tried to walk while holding his tail and then dragged his tail into his crate.  This isn't the smartest thing he has ever done (Wally responded to "sit" and "down" at the young age of 9 weeks.), but is was funny."

Observations, Commentaries and Funny Stories

9/13/2015

"I am joy in a wooly coat, come to dance into your life and to make you laugh."
Julie Church

Our 2nd litter of puppies began leaving on 9/6/15 when they were 8 weeks old.  The first to leave was Wally, who had not received his official name as yet and was known as Little Blue Boy when he was a newborn and then Blue Boy.
It became clear as I started hearing from the families as they related their experiences during the first few days of having a new puppy, that their stories were both educational and funny.  I wished I had kept a journal when our little Cleo arrived in October, 2012.  I know I made some notes along the way, but have not found them as yet.  So I decided to begin to collect the current stories with the intention of sharing them. So now I begin!
